新中国创办的第一份全国性英文报纸是《中国日报》

中国建国以来创办的第一份全国性英文报纸是《中国日报》，1981年6月1日在北京正式出版。

它的读者对象主要是在中国的外国人，其中包括常驻中国的外国使节、工作人员和专家、留学生以及来访的外宾、旅游者，也供国外读者、华侨、港澳同胞阅读。

它的内容主要根据外国读者的水平和阅读习惯，报道中国政治、经济、文化和社会生活等方面的新情况。

同时，以相当的篇幅报道世界各地每日发生的重要事情、国际经济、金融行情和体育新闻。

New China’s First National English Daily

The first national English newspaper after founding of new China was ‘China Daily’, started formal publication on June 1st, 1981.

It’s readers was mainly foreigners in China including foreign diplomats, staffs, specialists, students, foreign guests and tourists as well as foreign readers, overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau compatriots etc.

It organized newspaper reports according to foreigners’ reading level and habits, reporting latest news in China’s politics, economics, culture and society and considerable amounts of world’s important news, international economic, financial market and sports.
